About us!
Our Philosophy!

At Little Kids, Inc. we feel that children learn best in a comfortable and safe environment where they feel loved, and where their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.  On a daily basis we will support and engage children through specific learning experiences which will include; teacher directed activities, child initiated activities, outside play, and of course FREE PLAY!  Planned learning experiences will support each individual child’s social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and language development. Teachers will make sure that their curriculum is developmentally and age appropriate for the children in their classroom, and will remain flexible to make any changes or adaptations if necessary.  Classrooms will be clean, comfortable, and will be equipped with toys and learning materials appropriate to the age group served.  We will go outside each day, weather permitting! Fresh air is very important to us!

Children should be exposed to many different ways of learning such as; art, science, music and movement, outside/nature activities, dramatic play, geography, social studies, language, and last but not least PLAY!  All teachers will use and follow the Department of Education Preschool and Infant/Toddler Guidelines, to make sure they are focusing on each area of growth and development.  Each classroom’s teachers will work together to create weekly or monthly curriculum plans/calendars, which will be posted in each classroom to share with our families.  We feel that it is extremely important to keep our families informed and involved.  Carrying what goes on in the classroom, into the home, will make your child’s learning experiences all that much more valuable.  Parents are welcome to come in and visit anytime to; read a story, talk about a profession, or just to have lunch with us!  Our doors are always open!  We also encourage families to bring in a family photo to display at school.  This teaches children that every family is different and special.  A family photo can also be used to comfort a child who may be upset, sad, or may be new to our center and isn’t quite comfortable yet.

We believe that self help skills, independence, personal hygiene, and physical activity are very important.  These are the ways we stay HEALTHY!  Starting as early as toddler-hood, we encourage children to be self sufficient, and to take care of themselves and their belongings. We teach them how to clean up after themselves, how to wash their hands and faces, and also help them with toilet training.  We also make sure that the children have at least 60 minutes each day of physical activity or exercise! When children are given some responsibility to care for themselves and their belongings, they become proud of themselves, which builds their confidence and gives them a healthy self-esteem!

Through our positive methods of child guidance, we hope to convey values of trust, respect, honesty, self worth, and empathy.  We feel that it is imperative for children to learn the importance of developing lasting friendships with their peers, caregivers, and family. Discipline will be carried out in a firm yet positive manner.  Children will be taught to follow simple rules and directions, and will also be taught the importance of getting along with others.  They will be taught to be kind, to share, and to lend a helping hand to those in need. Teachers will act as positive role models for all children in our programs, and will treat the children and their co-teachers with respect.  We will work together, staff and families, to help any child who may have behavior issues.  Every child’s needs are different.

Visiting & Registration
There is no appointment needed to visit any of our programs!  Upon arrival, ask to see our director Tammy.  She will meet with you in her office, give you all necessary paperwork including our Parent Handbook (which includes all of our policies), answer any questions you may have, and then bring you to meet the teachers and see the classroom your child(ren) will be in.  ANY and ALL questions are welcome, so please don't be afraid to ask, especially if you are a new parent!  Deciding on a school for your child can be a very difficult decision.  It is important to us that you feel completely comfortable at our center, right from your very first visit.  You may come back with your chid or other family members for a second visit, to make sure we are the "best fit" for you and your child.
Our Bulletin Boards!

Each Classroom has a bulletin board where all important imformation is presented for our families to see!  Bulletin Boards will include; our Monthy Newsletter,  a Classroom Calendar of events, curriculum plans, and classroom news, a Yearly School Calendar, a weekly Snack List (2 snacks a day that we provide, as well as juice & milk), Tuition Info, and any other important information or upcoming events!  Please be sure to check them out when you are in the classroom.  Our Preschool and Pre-K class also write up a daily board for you to read at the end of each day!  Our I/T groups are smaller which makes personal conversations each day a little bit easier.

Little Bits of Useful Information!

* Little Kids is a peanut free school.  We ask that all families check labels of food packed in lunches, in case it may contain peanuts.  In the case of any allergies, we will do our absolute best to accomodate your child's needs.

* We provide 2 snacks a day including; milk, juice, and water!  We will follow any special dietary guidelines your family follows, as long as you provide us with these items.  Parents provide lunches (with a cold pack for our preshcool and pre-k children). Each classroom has a microwave and our Preschool and Pre-K have ovens.

* We ask that all families provide an extra set of clothing (weather appropriate) to keep in their child's cubby.  We aslo have school clothes just in case:-)

* We have plenty of blankets and sheets for our Infants and Toddlers, but you are more than welcome to provide your own.  We ask that families send in a small pillow & blanket for children in our preschool and pre-k classrooms.  We do have a laundry machine, but we ask that you take your child's belongings home at the end of the week for laundering.

* All staff are trained in First Aid and CPR each year!  They have also completed trainings which allow them to give medicine to those who may need it.  We will never administer the First Dose! This must be done at home.

* We are also required to assist children with tooth brushing, unless the child's parent does not want us to, in which case a form must be signed. We ask that families provided us with a toothbrush and toothpaste for their child.
